Nulla means zero in Latin and was founded in 2019 by 2 cousins, Caroline and Nancy, both originally from Quebec.
The program could divert 1.5 million cups per year in Victoria alone if just 20% of the city’s coffee drinkers use their own or the Nulla cup. Our team is bringing the community together by creating a strong network of participating zero-waste cafés, restaurants, and events.
The network continues to grow with 15 locations in Victoria, Brentwood Bay, Salt Spring Island and Tofino! Almost 1000 cups are in circulation on Vancouver Island. There is a demand - and a need - even in time of Covid. Reuse should become the new norm!
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NULLA CUP PROGRAM
Step 1 Visit a participating partner (listed at thenullaproject.ca) and ask for the Nulla cup. Pay a $5 refundable deposit.
Step 2 Enjoy the drink to go or to stay.
Step 3 Reuse the Nulla cup, get a freshly cleaned one at any partner location or return it to get a refund. Users are invited to share their experience online using #nullavictoria.
