In 1949, a gorgeous 22-acre property on the shores of Shawnigan Lake was purchased thanks to the financial support of Chris Spencer of Spencer’s Department Store (now the Bay Centre in Victoria, BC).

The property was purchased from Colonel Armstrong and his wife, famous opera star Dame Nellie Melba, and converted into a sleepover camp by the Victoria Presbytery of The United Church of Canada.

Our first campers arrived in 1950 and slept in the Silver Palace (the old barn painted with silver paint from Capital Iron).

Today, Camp Pringle offers campers, students, families and private rental groups rustic cabins, heated showers and a spectacular dining hall constructed in 2010. We provide opportunities for campers of all ages to experience God’s love in close relationship with other people and the natural environment.
