One Love specializes in equity, anti-racism, and racism, especially against persons of African ancestry (anti-Black racism both in the United States and Canada). Her “chats” a.k.a. roundtables, trainings, consultations, motivational speaking and clinical work centres around BIPoC mental wellness and the power in being unapologetically Black while engaging in discussions around power, privilege, racialized violence/trauma, “micro”aggressions, bias, intersections, colonialism, white and other supremacies/ accountabilities and systemic racism and discrimination.
One Love resides on Coast Salish territory, the traditional territories of the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples known today as W̱JOȽEȽP (Tsartlip), SȾÁUTW̱ (Tsawout), W̱SIḴEM (Tseycum) , BOḰEĆEN (Pauquachin), and MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat) Nations and the Lək̓ʷəŋən peoples known today as Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
One Love understands our responsibility to to truly consider what it means to work and live on these territories, to dismantle and disrupt the ways we may perpetuate the structure of colonialism, and how we can develop equitable relationships. We thank the peoples who have cared for and continue to care for and honour their lands for thousands of years. Please visit www.native-land.ca to have your group make their territorial acknowledgement a meaningful practice.
