MEDIA RELEASE March 2, 2011 CEDRIC STEELE WINS GOVERNORS’ LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD March 2, 2011 – Victoria, BC – The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce has announced the finalists for the Annual Greater Victoria Business Awards. Cedric Steele, President of Cedric Steele Realty Ltd. and owner of Prospect Lake Golf Course, will be awarded the Governors’ Lifetime Achievement Award at the gala event on April 19, 2011. Cedric Steele is also an Honorary Captain (Navy) at CFB Esquimalt, a position he has held since 1997. The appointment as Honorary Captain recognizes the contribution he has made to bring the military to the public through initiating interaction and events. “Coming out of the recession, it is wonderful to be celebrating the success of business throughout our community,” says David Marshall, Chair of the Chamber. “It is always worthwhile to pause and celebrate success but, at a time where business has had so many challenges, it is an honour to recognize those that have been most successful in sustaining and growing a vibrant business community.” The Governors’ Award is selected by the chamber’s Board of Governors. The finalists in 13 other categories go forward to a judging panel, who were tasked with whittling down a list of more than 150 nominations to 26 finalists.
