MEDIA RELEASE Join the 2011 Flower Count February 8, 2009 – Victoria, BC – The 2011 Annual Flower Count takes place March 1 – 7. As is customary, the event kicks off with a friendly flower arranging competition between municipal leaders judged by a host of media personalities. This year’s launch event takes place in The Bay Centre from 10 to 11:30 AM. “The Bay Centre is thrilled to host the 2011 Flower Count Launch in downtown Victoria,” said Darlene Hollstein, General Manager of The Bay Centre. “This is a great community celebration event that showcases our Garden City and the many unique offerings Victoria has to offer to our visiting guests year-round.” The public and media are invited to the launch event. When: Tuesday March 1, 2011 Where: The Bay Centre (Main Level Centre Court) 2 – 1150 Douglas Street Time: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM There are a number of ways for the public to participate in the Flower Count. You can: Count your blossoms and enter the count on the website. www.flowercount.ca Attend the Mayors’ Flower Arranging Competition – the Flower Count launch event on March 1st Encourage children in grades 4 and 5 to participate in the class room competition · Enter a flower photo contest on Facebook and Flickr and win great prizes! Access the contest sites through www.flowercount.ca And of course, brag to you family, friends, and colleagues in colder places! The Greater Victoria Flower Count is a light-hearted event meant to promote Victoria as an attractive shoulder-season holiday destination.
