Location: IMTARC, 100 Maplebank Road, Victoria, BC Course Description: This course provides participants with a deeper understanding of project management as well as skills to manage the people side of projects while working in matrix environments. The traditional intact work team is often not used for projects as teams are often drawn together from multiple functional areas. This leaves project managers or those leading such teams without many of the traditional managerial levers to get work done through other people. Therefore, different skills are required such as influence, persuasion and negotiations. During the course participants will gain knowledge on the following topics: - Review of project management fundamentals - Examination of 2 key Project Management Knowledge areas as identified in the Project Management Institute’s Body of Knowledge (5th edition): 1. Stakeholder Management Identify, assess, build trust respond and monitor Understand the relationship and power bases between self and stakeholders Stakeholder mapping 2. Communications Management Psychology of Influence and Persuasion Necessary conversations (building accountability) Negotiation Presentation Skills Use the 4 Ms of Presentation Please note, this course includes catered lunch.
