This 36-hour course condenses a year’s worth of public speaking training into just six Saturdays, and will help you prepare quickly for any type of speaking situation. If you feel that you have something to share but need assistance in organizing your thoughts for a presentation of any kind, then this is the course for you! There are so many gifts that we can share by talking freely in public about our personal wisdom. By being able to share such stories, in a structured way with others, you will share your wisdom and in turn help them to succeed. Plus, you will feel great satisfaction from educating others! No matter if you’re next speaking engagement is for business, giving a toast at a wedding, being better at job interviews, or in any of the many interactive conversation styles, then you should consider committing to this short, but life-changing course. What is this course? An opportunity to practice four key aspects of public speaking – demonstrating/informing, adding creativity, persuading, and motivating. Participants will learn proper speech structure and how to effectively open and close their speeches on time, along with many practical and useful tips, tricks and strategies. Who should take this course? Anyone with a small to large fear of public speaking, plus anyone who would like to take their speaking ability to the next level in regards to style and effectiveness. Why should I take this course? There are so many opportunities in life to speak. In regards to business events like networking, product demonstrations, meetings, sales pitches, job interviews, media interviews…to name a few. And in your personal life you may wish to give a toast at a wedding, a eulogy at a funeral, speak about charities you believe in, to share your passions/hobbies. Once you harness your fears of presenting in public, the sky’s the limit for where, when and how you can present. How can I benefit the most from this course? As this is a weekly class, you will want to set aside time before the first class to read the textbook in full. You will also want to set aside time each week to create and practice your speech as you will present a speech each week beginning on week two. But, don’t let this timeline scare you — I’ve seen people make amazing strides in just six weeks! Finally, you will want to analyze the video of your presentation and complete a self-critique in order to begin a continuous cycle of improvement. You will learn much not only from the instructor, but also from your classmates in this course, your attendance in all classes is important too. Learning Outcomes: Participants will… Create four speeches: demonstration, creativity, persuasion, motivation Conduct self-evaluation on their speeches Receive evaluation/suggestions from peers and instructor Use these skills in real life situations Be very comfortable speaking in public by the last class This 6-week training program includes a fully developed and tested evaluation process, as well as textbook, workbook and PowerPoint presentation copies. This course will run for six Saturdays from 9:30am to 4:30pm each week with an hour break for lunch. NOTE: Participation is limited to just 22 people.
