Event Description: Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is growing as a fuel source in North America. Super cooling natural gas enables efficient storage and transportation. However, LNG has some unique properties compared to other liquid fuels and products. This course provides the participant with a comprehensive overview of the properties of LNG, and safe handling of LNG. Visual demonstrations are used to ensure participants have an interactive and experiential learning of LNG. Upon completion of the course students will have an understanding of the following areas: - Basic understanding of LNG properties - Physical properties and Hazards of LNG - Safe handling of LNG including equipment and PPE - Understanding of the rules and regulations - Visual demonstration of the properties of LNG Topics Include: - What is LNG? - LNG in BC: Natural gas production; Liquefaction and export plants; Applications in off-grid and transport industries - LNG Properties: Properties and characteristics of LNG and natural gas; Nature and Properties of cryogenic as liquid solutions; LNG Incidents and regulations - Hazards & Safe Handling: MSDS; PPE and equipment; Vapor cloud; Health hazards – cryogenic & asphyxiation; First Aid treatment; Reactivity; Flammability & explosion - LNG Regulations & Emergency Response: Transportation; Onsite storage and dispensing; Emergency response - LNG Equipment & Overview: Types of equipment used in the industry; Safe operation of equipment,; Hazardous zoning Please note, this course includes catered lunch.
