Once you have chosen your preferred platforms, how do you stay safe? Join Volunteer Victoria’s Julia-Anne Morris, manager of youth programs and social media lead to learn about current social media platforms, and how to keep your agency and staff safe and engaged in the online world! Participants will explore: Various types of social media including collaboration, networking, image-sharing, micro-blogging, and video-sharing platforms How to determine keywords Primary differences between traditional and social media marketing How to care for your media platforms Tips and techniques to keep your organization’s sites safe About the facilitator Julia-Anne is Volunteer Victoria’s social media point-person. She has shared her social media expertise at various conferences and training opportunities, including Social Media Camp and Helping Youth Programs Excel. Julia-Anne has a Bachelor’s of Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria, where her practicum experience focused on engaging youth through meaningful relationships and family counseling. She has many years experience volunteering in the community, including as a Board Member for the United Way of Greater Victoria, a coach for Special Olympics, and on the Sexual Assault Response Team. About the venue This workshop will be held at the Volunteer Victoria Learning Centre. Light snacks and beverages provided. Parking is most easily found at the City Parkades (Yates or View st), or at the Bay Centre parkade. Please know that the first hour is always free in City Parkades.
