Funders Networking Breakfast: 9:00-10:00am Calling all Executive Directors, Program Managers, Fundraisers & Grantwriters! This is your opportunity to meet with members of the Victoria Community Funders Network to ask questions about upcoming grant deadlines, 2015 funding priorities and make a pitch for your existing or upcoming program! Don’t miss this annual networking event for children and youth-serving organizations in our region. Friday Keynote: 10:15-11:00am First Nations Welcome Keynote presentation with Kevin Breel Friday morning sessions: 11:05am-12:30pm Choice #1: Building Relationships with First Nations Youth - Panel Discussion This seminar is being organized in collaboration with the Indigenous Perspectives Association and will feature elders, youth workers and aboriginal youth from local First Nations’ Communities It will be a panel presentation and discussion. Choice #2 (YPQI methods): Introduction to the Active Participatory Approach with Melinda 'bob' Maureen and Jen Harrison Young people can thrive when they feel safe and supported to learn and lead. The Active Participatory Approach (APA) provides an overview of the Methods training series - a powerful set of tools for working with children and youth. Organization staff participating in the YPQI as well as other interested youth workers can attend. Friday Lunch Networking: 12:30-1:25pm Hot Lunch & Possibilities Net-Warming Friday afternoon sessions: various times Choice #1 (1:30-2:30pm): Social Media and Youth Workers with Erinne Paisley and Julia-Anne Morris Social media has become a part of youth and youth worker's daily lives. This youth and youth worker duo will offer suggestions, ideas, and resources for best and safe practice in an open dialogue format. Choice #2 (2:30-3:30pm): Issues and Tissues - Scenario and Dialogue with Alana Goddard and Amy Cooper Participants will have the opportunity to practice the use of dialogue and exploratory inquisitiveness to explore difficult youth issues and some of the “grey matter” in youth work. Choice #3 (1:30-3:30pm, YPQI methods): YPQI Basics PLUS for YPQI Participants with Melinda 'bob' Maureen and YPQI Coaches This training has been crafted for those organizations that are currently participating in the YPQI-Victoria initiative, have previously taken the Youth YPQI Basics, and have a good understanding of the Youth Program Quality Assessment (PQA) tool.
