Event Description: For more information and to register, visit, http://www.eventbrite.ca/o/volunteer-victoria-1749897131 Equitas invites staff from community-based organizations and centres who work with children and youth to participate in one of the following two dynamic workshops that will allow you to: Become familiar with the Play it Fair! or Speaking Right Toolkit developed by Equitas Build knowledge of human rights and better understand how this applies to your work with children and youth Build your capacity to incorporate and facilitate values based games and activities into your existing programs Play It Fair! Program - for children aged 6-12, increases children’s understanding of human rights, respect for diversity and peaceful conflict resolution. Play it Fair! promotes the active participation of children in games followed by group discussions. Speaking Rights Program - engages youth 13-18 year olds in exploring human rights issues and identifying strategies to combat discrimination and exclusion while promoting respect for diversity. The program centers on the active participation of youth by developing their ability to discuss issues that are important to them, to work collaboratively on community-building activities and solve conflicts peacefully. About Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education is a Canadian non-profit organization that has been promoting equality, social justice and respect for human dignity for over 40 years. The organization has developed innovative human rights education tools and programs that develop awareness and encourage participation of children and youth. The Canadian programs focus on promoting inclusion, respect for diversity, peaceful conflict resolution and community engagement.
