Event Description: It’s been a very long summer vacation for many Victoria students and those in French immersion or at Francophone schools may be feeling rusty in using French. Help support your Teen or Pre-teen during BCTF strike action with our French Fluency and Volunteering Camp! Taught by Francophone and/or French language teachers, this camp aims to revive student fluency in French and build their vocabulary in readiness for their return to school. Campers will enjoy French conversation activities including board games, movies and media, language activities, sports and out-trips downtown. In addition, students will work on a fundraising project, and will volunteer at one or more charitable organizations during each week of the camp. They’ll receive a graduation certificate at the end of the camp detailing the number of volunteer hours they’ve achieved. Start Date: Tuesday September 2nd, 2014* Schedule: 9 am to 3 pm, weekdays, including a one hour supervised lunch period. Price: $40/day or $180/week (5 days) Ages: 10 – 13 years old (Going into Grades 5 through 7 when school resumes) Language level: Students must have attended a Francophone school OR an Early French Immersion program in the prior school year. No exceptions. *The camp will run only on those days where public schooling is not available here in Victoria due to strike action. Any prepaid/unearned fees will be refunded in full in the event that students can return to school earlier than the registered end date.
