Event Description:
Join Lee Johnson from the Vancouver Island Green Business Association for this 1.5 hour workshop to learn how to run an environmentally responsible not-for-profit. This workshop will identify clear actions for you to take to reduce the impact your organization has on the environment. We invite participants to join us to learn how you can make your operations more sustainable by conserving water and energy, reducing the amount of waste you generate, learn about sustainable purchasing practices and much more. This workshop will give you an opportunity to learn from local sustainable business practitioners about existing programs that can help you take meaningful action to reducing your environmental footprint. Participants will walk away with: an understanding of local rebate and incentive programs case studies from other businesses and a list of leading green business practices. About the Facilitator: Lee Johnson holds a master's degree in Resource and Environmental Management. Before he began working as the program manager for the Vancouver Island Green Business Certification (VIGBC) program, he worked on climate change initiatives at the local, regional and provincial level. Now as the program manager at VIGBC he works with small and medium sized businesses to help them improve their environmental performance, have local green businesses efforts recognized through the certification, and build consumer confidence and awareness of certified businesses. About the Venue: This workshop will be held at Volunteer Victoria's Learning Centre. Coffee, tea and water will be available. There is a bike rack in Trounce Alley, (behind the building), and many bus stops nearby. Parking is available on the street, or in nearby parkades. City Parkades (View st & Yates st) have 1st hour free coupons that we will offer you.
