Event Description: For more information and to register, visit, http://www.eventbrite.ca/o/volunteer-victoria-1749897131 Strategic Planning 101: Putting the work on the ground by bringing together: values, vision and organizational capacity. This workshop has been designed for executive directors, employees and board members of non-profit organizations. Working independently and in groups, participants will leave this workshop with: insight into different definitions of strategy the ability to connect values, vision and planning insight into who needs to be part of the planning process approaches to identifying strategic goals practical experience crafting goals, objectives and actions and a framework for a strategic plan. Participants must come prepared to articulate the values and vision of their organization and be open to discussing strategic work across communities of interest. Registered participants will be expected to complete two VERY short pre-workshop assignments related to organizational success and previous strategic plans. About the Facilitator: Claire Rettie holds a Master’s Degree in Social History. Her career includes work roles as an executive director for non-profit organizations in Alberta and British Columbia, a director in municipal and provincial governments, an instructor at the University of Victoria in communications and community development and with Dalhousie University in non-profit governance. As principal of an independent consulting and coaching practice Claire works with leaders and teams in the areas of strategic planning and communications, organizational change, and governance transformation. About the Venue: This workshop will be held at the Yakimovich Wellness Centre (more commonly known as the Hillside Seniors Health Centre, beside Aberdeen Hospital). Pay parking is available behind the Aberdeen Hospital, or on Belmon Street by Oaklands Elementary School. The number 4 bus routes stops nearby and there are bike racks available. Light snacks (baked goods, fruit, vegetables and light beverages) will be provided. Please bring a bag lunch, or you are welcome to purchase one at a nearby establishment.
