Achieving this requires an investment of time from both staff and board members – beyond the time allocated to regular board and committee meetings –dedicated to strategize on the best use of resources to maximize funds raised. This engaging, team-focused, session is designed to provide board and staff teams with a shared language and understanding of how to improve their fundraising success. Who should attend? This course is designed for teams consisting of board and staff member from the same. Ideally, a team of three to four –maximum of five – with at least two board members would make a great team. What is fundraising? – A review of Fundraising Techniques The Difference between Ad Hoc & Strategic Fundraising There’s more to Fundraising than Asking – Allowing Board Members to Find Their Fundraising ‘Fit’ Brushing Up on Your Case for Support – The 7 Stories All Board & Staff should know Gauging your organization’s readiness for fundraising Conducting a Fundraising Audit –your Internal and External Environments Developing a Fundraising Action Plan & Timeline (using SMART objectives) Creating a Fundraising Friendly Climate for everyone involved By the end of the course you will be able to: Describe your organization’s approach to fundraising with comfort and confidence Compare and contrast difference fundraising techniques Determine the type of fundraising that will deliver the highest ROI for your organization Work toward attaining clarity and buy in from other board and staff members Communicate shared goals and an fundraising improvement action plan with your organization About the Facilitator: Norma Cameron, CFRE has over 25 years’ experience in the charity sector, working as a fundraiser, trainer of fundraisers and support teams with a wide variety of sizes and types of organizations. She was also a board member and president of a small, national art-based charity (initially with no staff) for 6 years. She now runs her own consultancy and works with not-for-profit organizations across Canada. Norma has worked with the Canadian Association of Gift Planners since 2006 designing and delivering fundraising courses and sits on their national board of directors as well as sitting on the CFRE International Advisory Council. Light refreshments, baked goods and fruit will be served, please bring your own lunch or buy one from a local establishment. Parking is most easily found at the Bay Centre underground parking or the Yates or View st City of Victoria Parkades.A first hour free parking pass is available if you park in a City of Victoria Parkade.
