So what is the recipe for great volunteer recruitment and retention? Join Beth Cougler Blom & Leanna Hill in this interactive workshop to learn more about promising practices in the field; and to begin the work of fine-tuning your own recruitment and retention strategies. Participants will walk away with: A better understanding of current Canadian volunteering trends and their implications on your own volunteer programs Better understand volunteer motivation and its importance in recruiting & retaining volunteers An opportunity to analyse the profiles of specific target groups of volunteers for your organizations and how to recruit them Learn about strategies for retaining your program’s volunteers Build a next steps plan About the Facilitators: Beth Cougler Blom Beth Cougler Blom is a trainer, facilitator and consultant who specializes in volunteer management and online teaching and learning through her own business. She has worked with both Royal Roads University and the Canadian Red Cross developing and facilitating online learning. Beth was Manager of Training and Outreach at Volunteer Victoria between 2006 and 2012. Beth is Vice-President of the Administrators of Volunteer Resources British Columbia (AVRBC). She has a Master of Education in Adult Education from UBC and a Certificate in Volunteer Management from Conestoga College. Leanna Hill Leanna Hill is passionate about community and the role that each individual plays in supporting a healthy community. Committed to lifelong learning principles, she has been facilitating workshops and leadership learning opportunities for over a decade, and she holds a Master of Arts in Leadership through Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts in French from SFU. She has many years experience working in community serving organizations, with much of that time spent supporting emerging professionals and youth in their leadership development and community engagement. In her various roles within the non-profit sector, Leanna has coordinated volunteers in schools, large-scale community events, and in community centres. About the Venue: This workshop will be held at the Volunteer Victoria Learning Centre. Light snacks and beverages provided. Parking is most easily found at the City Parkades (Yates or View st), or at the Bay Centre parkade. First Hour Free vouchers are available if you choose to park in City Parkades.
