Event Description: For more information and to register, visit, http://www.eventbrite.ca/o/volunteer-victoria-1749897131 Join Brian Hill for a brief presentation on chairing board meetings, including preparation, balancing input and decision making, dealing with challenging people and situations and finishing on time. Following the presentation, Brian will facilitate an exchange of questions and ideas guided by participants’ interests and knowledge. About the Facilitator: Brian Hill will be the expert for this session on Effective Chairing. Brian is a Project Manager with the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth and has served on boards and committees for over 25 years. Most recently, he has been President of the Community Social Planning Council of Greater Victoria and of the South Island Training Initiative Society. Brian has also worked for a board as Executive Director of the Greater Victoria Child and Family Counseling Association, and has facilitated a wide range of workshops, focus groups and consultations. Brian has earned a reputation as a thoughtful and effective facilitator and chairperson. About the Venue: Street parking in downtown Victoria is free after 6pm, though there are parkades nearby: Bay Centre & Yates Parkades (will charge an evening fee). Light snacks will be provided.
