Presentation on the Proposed National Marine Conservation Area
Hosted by: Royal Victoria Yacht Club
In October 2003, Canada and the Province of British Columbia signed a
Memorandum of Understanding committing the two governments to assesing the feasibility of a national marine conservation area in the southern Strait of Georgia area. In October 2011, a proposed boundary for this area was announced. The two governments are now conducting in-depth consultations with First Nations, stakeholders, communities and the public to generate feedback on both boundaries and their management.
