The Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC) has been offering Indigenous specific services in an open access setting for 50 years. The VNFC mandate is to encourage and promote the well-being of urban Indigenous peoples by strengthening individuals, family and community. Services focus on a wrap-around approach, ensuring all needs of our clients are being met in a holistic way to assist in moving them forward on the continuum of well-being.
The VNFC provides open access services to an estimated 17,000 Indigenous people living in the greater Victoria area; as well as the 5,000 residents from the First Nations communities in the southern Vancouver Island region. Services include 51 diverse programs supporting pre-natal to Elders, such as access to an Aboriginal health clinic, daycare, before and after childcare, career and employment supports, health and social programs, vibrant youth initiatives, and dynamic arts and cultural practices.
