Threshold exists to serve youth from across Vancouver Island through supported independent living. Providing positive role models and constructive support helps youth in our community navigate the challenges of school, work, relationships and life. Many of these young people just need someone to believe in them.
The Threshold Housing Society was formed in 1990 and opened it first house, Mitchell House for young men (16-21 years of age) in 1992. Holly House opened in 19
97 for young women of the same age range. In 2012, Threshold initiated its "Safe Housing for Youth" (SHY) Program, which serves youth up to 24 years of age.
While living in a Threshold house or living in a private unit, youth must be either finishing high-school, enrolled in an academic institution, working, or in a program leading to employment.
