Key Food Equipment Services, a household name in the restaurant industry in British Columbia, Canada, is a Canadian owned company that has been specializing in servicing commercial kitchen equipment since 1982. Key Food’s founding president, Jean Choquette, came from a family with nearly 100 years’ connection to the restaurant equipment service business. His grandfather founded Eugene Choquette Electrician in Montreal in 1913, now known as ‘Choquette CKS’. Jean acquired Key Food in 1997 when it had only six service technicians and has led it in a phase of dramatic growth, currently there are over 70 technicians and 70 inside staff members across 8 branches.
Key’s first office is still located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. In May 2000 Key Food opened a second operation in Victoria. Then in November 2001, they partnered with Enviro-Tech Mechanical Services, a company specializing in refrigeration and HVAC. This alliance allows its customers within Metro Vancouver to find all the professional services needed for their commercial kitchen equipment in one convenient location. In March 2005 Key Food expanded to Edmonton Alberta. Then in May 2010, Key Food expanded to Kelowna BC. Since June 2011, Key acquired branches in Saskatoon and Regina. In October 2017 Key purchased Great West Commercial Kitchen Supply and expanded into the Calgary market. More recently, Key Food hired local techs in the Kamloops and Nanaimo markets to service those locations direct.
