Chard Development Ltd.

Founded in 1994 by David Chard, Chard Development is an award-winning urban real estate development and property management firm based in BC. The company focuses on projects in Greater Victoria and Metro Vancouver, including condominiums, rental apartments, and commercial development.

Chard has been built on a commitment to long-lasting relationships with our customers, consultants, trades, partners and colleagues. It is this approach that has driven our ongoing success and reputation for leaving a lasting positive impact on both people and places.

To date, Chard has completed nine residential and mixed-use developments within the City of Victoria, most in the form of high-rise residential projects. Chard’s most recently completed projects include Vivid (2021 – 135 attainable homeownership suites within a 20-storey tower), the Yates on Yates (2020  – 127 condo suites within a 20-storey tower) and Yello (2018 – 209 purpose-built rental suites within a 14-storey tower). Chard is currently under construction at Nest (107 condominium suites with retail at grade) and Haven (104 attainable homeownership suites). 

Both Haven and Vivid represent successful partnerships with BC Housing to deliver attainable homeownership opportunities to middle income buyers.

In the Lower Mainland, Chard recently completed and stabilized The Royals, a two tower, 256-unit purpose-built rental development in the City of North Vancouver and received rezoning approval for the development of a 577-unit purpose-built rental development in the City of Vancouver.

In 2022, Chard has been recognized for these recently completed developments, earning UDI Awards from the Urban Development Institute – Pacific Region. The Royals in North Vancouver was recognized as BC’s best Purpose-Built Market Rental High Rise while Vivid in Victoria was celebrated as best Non-Market Housing. Vivid was also recognized by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC with the Provincial Award for Excellence in Housing Affordability.
