MEDIA RELEASE IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 2, 2010 Past Chair of Local Chamber Moves Up to Provincial Role Victoria, BC — John Juricic, Co-Founder of Etraffic Solutions and immediate past chair of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the BC Chamber of Commerce at their annual general meeting. “It is an honour to be able to represent our regional business community at the provincial level,” says John Juricic. “It is important to have Island issues and small business issues represented loud and clear when influential provincial organizations are making their voice heard. With the experience I have gathered at our local chamber, I am confident that I can champion that cause for the capital region.” John has been on the Greater Victoria Chamber’s Board of Directors since 2005. Prior to being Chair in 2009, he chaired a number of committees including Election Readiness, Government Affairs, Business of Sport, and the Greater Victoria Development Agency. For 2010, John is part of the Executive Committee as Past Chair and co-chairs the Environmental Subcommittee of the Policy and Public Affairs Committee. Outside of the Chamber, John has chaired several VIATeC committees including the E-Commerce SIG and Smart Communities Technology Opportunities Committee. John is currently on the Board of the Mount St. Mary’s Foundation and the Board of the Victoria Community Micro Lending Society. He is active on the local lecture circuit presenting technology and business related seminars to students from UVIC, Royal Roads and Camosun College as well as numerous private sector functions. The Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce has approximately 1500 members and is the voice of business for the Greater Victoria region.
