Empowering vulnerable youth to unlock their full potential & navigate their own path to success.
About us
We empower vulnerable youth to unlock their full potential and discover their own path to success, through a full-time mental health & emotional well-being program embedded in public schools. The words of Take a Hike youth best describe the impact of the program: "Without the support from my friends and Take a Hike, I would not be the confident girl I am today. I would still be sitting at home in a dark room, playing video games, and hating the world. My future looks brighter than I ever imagined a year ago." “I have a bright future ahead of me and I realize that now.”

Hi, I’m Tristan👋, a Mental Health Clinician at Take a Hike Foundation. Bringing vulnerable youth outside of the classroom once a week and into the great outdoors is one of the best tools that I utilize in my clinical practice. 🌳⭐ I build better relationships with youth when I’m hiking a mountain, paddling a kayak, or sitting around a campfire with them. 🥾🏕️ And the personal transformations that youth have on outdoor trips is remarkable! Will you join me and help create meaningful outdoor experiences for vulnerable BC youth? Donate now. https://ow.ly/WrAE50RlEVH *All new monthly donors who make a donation of $10/month or more will receive a cool Take a Hike toque.

We'd like to thank the Provincial Employees Community Services Fund (PECSF) for visiting our Sooke program recently and for their support of the Lower Mainland programs. Without this support, we would not be able to empower youth to build community, learn what they are capable of, and achieve their goals. #youthofbc #wwdatah #vulnerableyouth #mentalhealthawareness #outdooractivities #takeahikeyouth #explorebc #donation #takeahikefoundation #empoweryouth

Jaimie was a disengaged youth who only spoke with one-word answers. His grades at his previous high school were slipping and his shy personality made it hard for him to make friends or ask for help. But after Jaimie joined the Take a Hike program and experienced his first multi-day outdoor trip, everything changed. He found his voice 📢, made connections with others, got on top of his schoolwork and will be graduating soon! 🎓 Read Jaimie’s story at https://ow.ly/z6OG50RlEFK It’s a beautiful gift to empower vulnerable youth to develop their physical & emotional well-being through outdoor trips. Help make life-changing experiences like Jaimie’s possible. Donate now. https://ow.ly/c3UV50RlEFN *To maintain the privacy of the youth, the youth in the picture and in the story are not the same. Both are real Take a Hike youth.
