New month, new hire 🎉 We’re pleased to introduce Alanna Mahr, the latest addition to our team. With over a decade of experience in marketing and communications, Alanna will be helping us craft content, increase engagement, and amplify the vast technical knowledge of our team 🧠 When not scrutinizing fixture specs or asking our product technologists to ‘explain it again, please’ Alanna can be found running, reading, weeding, and chasing after her kids (at least until they run out of steam and ask to be carried, always at the bottom of a hill). Welcome, Alanna! We’re excited to have you as our newest #SOLmate ☀️

It gets hot in Moreno Valley—really hot. (Last August, the mercury topped 136°F 🥵) When it heats up, residents do the sensible thing: they get out early in the morning or late in the day. The only problem is there isn't always enough light to do so safely—something officials noted was an issue at the local dog park. That's where we came in. In collaboration with our South Coast Lighting & Design partners, we carefully evaluated the project location and requirements, ultimately delivering 8 of our powerful, all-in-one iSSL Maxi 4 lights. The result: reliable, sustainable illumination that provides year-round safety to people and their pets. Read the full case study 👉 https://lnkd.in/e8cWt-Hg

Thanks for the dose of optimism JJ Waters! This #EarthDay, we're reflecting on our progress in helping cities transition to cleaner, renewable energy (☀️) while re-committing to each do our part to keep the planet a livable, beautiful place for all 🌎
HAPPY EARTH DAY 2024! We ARE moving in the right direction, step by step, day by day. Earth Day reminds us that each one of us can do our part. I'm so grateful that I may have some small part in contributing to a more sustainable future by offering renewable solar streetlighting with Sol by Sunna Design. While each one of us may do our small part, TOGETHER we really can change the world.
For Earth Day 2024, experts are spreading optimism – not doom. Here's why.

With copper wire theft on the rise across North America, cities are doing whatever they can to deter thieves and protect their infrastructure. Security cameras. Signage. Alarms. Fences. Tamper-proof screws. And for the most part, it isn’t working. Solar offers a proactive alternative. Rather than deploy repair crews each time there’s an incident, solar street lights get to the root of the issue, removing the very thing thieves are after. No copper = no problems Want to learn more about making the switch from grid to solar street lighting? Check out our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gPRQ-67T

Parks in America aren’t exactly known for being hives of activity after dark, but there’s no reason they can’t be. With Sol’s solar-powered lights, you can allow and even encourage safe, healthy nighttime recreation, whether it’s going for a jog, tossing around a Frisbee, or just sitting on a bench and watching the world go by. Interested in improving park safety and usability after dark without the complexity and cost of conventional lighting? Check out our article: https://lnkd.in/gsrgPKcB

We love a good rails-to-trails project here at Sol, and the Erie Lackawanna Trail in Lake County, Indiana is a prime example. Coming in at 17 miles, the trail begins in the City of Hammond, then passes through several smaller towns before ending in the county seat of Crown Point. Our favorite stretch is in the town of Highland. It skirts a stadium, playground, tennis courts, a free library, and as of recently, 70 of Sol’s solar-powered lights designed to increase safety and reduce utility bills. Read the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/gcsm3GHn Big thanks to our partners at KSA Lighting & Controls, Wesco, and EMCOR Hyre Electric Co. of Indiana, Inc. for their collaboration on this project 🙏

When the nation’s premier air-to-air training facility, @NAS Fallon (AKA ‘the TOPGUN school’), needed to upgrade their lighting, they looked to the nation’s premier outdoor lighting supplier for a solution. With security and reliability key concerns—not to mention a remote location in the Nevada desert—Sol’s solar-powered perimeter lights were an attractive choice. The lights could be installed anywhere, and not being tied to the grid made power cuts a non-issue. On top of providing ample and reliable light when and where it’s needed, the lights were incredibly easy to install. “The overall experience with the solar lights was efficient and kind of fun to put together,” said Chief Builder Mark Kampmann. “It’s nice that we were able to avoid connecting to existing high voltage lines, and the lightweight fiberglass utility poles made installation very easy.” Read the full case study: https://lnkd.in/gjrjfyaS

For about four and a half minutes today, the sun will disappear over parts of Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. The sky will darken, an illuminated halo will appear, and millions of people will gaze upwards to see something that relatively few people ever have. Here at Sol, we are continually awed by the strength and the beauty of the sun. Sure, it powers our products (150,000 lights and counting!) but it also allows plants to grow, ocean currents to flow, and keeps our planet in orbit. So, thanks sun! And if you’re worried about the impacts of the eclipse to your solar lights, don’t be. The interruption will be brief, and we size our systems to withstand four days without any sun at all. Now go grab your solar sunglasses—the show’s about to begin 😎
